xvii, + 304pp., intext b/white halftone plates throughout including disposition map. Book clean and square. Spine firm, with just a hint of a reading crease. Illustrated card wrapper lightly bumped and scuffed. Inscribed "Good Wishes", signed and dated (3/8/98) by author on half-title page, else textblock unmarked. On 13 February, 1946, Australian troops disembarked at the war-devastated Japanese port city of Kure. They were the vanguard of the British Commonwealth Occupation Force (BCOF) in Japan.
