404pp., plus (xxxxiv). Line-drawn regional map endpapers. Illustrated throughout with b/white halftone plates. Book clean. Bright gilt title over lightly bumped and canted spine. Plain brown cloth boards undamaged. Textblock unmarked. Art-illustrated (I.R. Petersen), loose-plastic protected dustjacket edgeworn and creased, nipped and abraded. When he was commissioned to write this history of Omeo Shire in East Gippsland, Victoria, the author was seventy years of age with no previous literary experience. His great advantage was a vast knowledge of the area and decades of service as a councillor in the shire. The result is an excellent publication, certain to appeal to anyone interested in the area's history . . .
