Art-illustrated, loose-plastic protected dustjacket very lightly shelfworn only. Born in Soligen, Germany on Jan 7, 1830, Albert Bierstadt moved to the United States with his family two years later. Seemingly self-taught, by the mid-nineteenth century he was considered to be America's foremost landscape painter, a claim justified by the superb works reproduced in this retrospective.
