Each called-for plate in the section is extant, attached and preceded by a relevant captioned leaf. Book clean and square. Still bright gilt title over mildly bumped spine. Dark blue cloth boards colour-flecked, and lightly frayed on foredge corners, else minor bumps. Inner and outer hinges undamaged. Original seller's stamp on front pastedown, textblock top edge bright gilt, untrimmed foredge and foot (foxing flecks on both), else minor random splotches. The author indicates that the basis of this work was originally undertaken as a thesis for the degree of Doctor of Medicine. Extremely rare First Edition (mostly only available as a 'P.O.D.' copy), with plates giving "faithful copies of the morbid organs, drawn from the specimens before any active changes of decomposition had affected them . . . ". Debilitating, and often fatal, the hydatid 'parasitic' worm migrated from the intestine and affected most organs of the body . . .
