Bryde, C.W.L. FROM CHART HOUSE TO BUSH HUT Melbourne, VIC, Australia H.H.Champion/Australasian Authors' Agency Hardcover Very Good No publication date (c. 1920). Presumed First Edition. 158pp., b/white engraved frontis plate, plus three others, all by Cyril Leyshon-White (1894-1962). All called-for plates extant. Book clean and square. Spine firm, bumped and frayed on head and heel, together with some colour fading. Text-printed, papered boards very good, with nominally bumped lower foredge corners. Hinges very good. Endpapers and textblock foredge flecked and splotched with foxing, else very good. The author narrates his story of seven years in the Queensland, Australia bush after paying-off, albeit with some difficulty, as a crew member of a ship on the Pacific trade run between Australia and Chile. On 28 February, 1912, he said goodbye to the sea and became a 'land-lubber'. Contents include; Prelims., 23 chapters, L'Envoi. Book weight approx. 250g.
