No publication date (c. 1890s). 351pp. Small, b/white chapter illuminations. Book clean and square, albeit lightly shaken. Heavily decorated in gilt, red and black over mildly scuffed, edgeworn and abraded original blue cloth. Former owner's name on ffep., a tiny, original seller's stamp on rear endpaper, splotched and flecked throughout textblock. A stand-alone volume in Kenedy and Son's 'Library of Catholic Novels' series. "In the month of May, in the year 397, a number of inhabitants of Antioch (almost a Christian city) collected in the grove of daphne, sheltering under tall trees from the hot midday sun . . . " Contents include: Preface, 12 chapters. Book weight approx. 410g.
