Text-block (untrimmed at foot) yellow-tinted top edge, leaves clean and unmarked. Art-illustrated (Paul Frame), loose-plastic protected dustjacket mildly edgeworn, plus an original seller's sticker affixed to front flap which partially masks one word ('author). First published in the U.K. in 1961, this first American edition is a story for older schoolgirls and is set on a tiny island, 'Lindra', situated in the Outer Hebrides area of Scotland.
